The Instagram Strategy for Bloggers to Grow Your Blog with Instagram

There are many things you can do to use Instagram to grow your blog. But this Instagram strategy for bloggers gives you actionable steps to take to grow your Instagram and then use Instagram for blog growth.

Looking for the best Instagram strategy for bloggers to grow your blog? This series of blog posts about Instagram for bloggers has all the info you need! #Instagramstrategy #Instagramforblogging #Instagramforbloggers Click To Tweet

1. Set Up Your Instagram Account Properly

First things first. You need to set your Instagram account up for success. If you’re a blogger, you should treat your blog like a business.

And that’s why you need an Instagram account for Business! There are extra features you’ll get access to with a Business account like:

  • Insights into your post performance and follower engagement
  • Saved Replies to drive traffic to your blog and grow your email list (this is my fave feature!)
  • Auto Publishing Posts to schedule your posts to publish at a later time
  • And more

Once you’ve created your Instagram account for Business, start by adding the details of your blog along with a photo. I recommend using a personal photo of yourself to show the face behind the blog.

Next, you need to write a good bio. Unfortunately, you only get 150 characters to use. So you need to make them count!

Think of your Instagram profile as free real estate to market your blog. You have to make the most of the limited space you have on Instagram.

You also need to make your bio link count since you only get one link. The best way to do that is by creating an Instagram bio landing page on your website featuring links to your various blog posts, pages, products, and anywhere else you want to direct them.

I’ve created a fully customizable Template you can use with the Divi theme or the Divi Page Builder plugin if you’re using a different WordPress theme. This plug-and-play Template lets you create your own landing page on your site with your branding and as many links as you want!

2. Get Free Instagram Followers

Once you have your Instagram account set up and optimized, you need to start gaining free Instagram followers

You might think that posting pretty photos will get you thousands of free followers. And maybe eventually they will. But to get the ball rolling, you need to be strategic about how you get Instagram followers.

Followers are crucial to have a successful Instagram strategy for bloggers. But it can be tough to gain new followers, especially when you’re first starting out.

Believe it or not, gaining Instagram followers is all about who YOU follow. You need to find other people to follow and not just anyone. You first need to find your competition and follow people who are following them. That’s your target audience!

By following the people who are interested in your niche, the hope is that they’ll follow you back. There’s a little more to it than that, but that’s the gist of it. This Instagram growth strategy has helped me reach over 6,400 followers and counting. I’ll get to 10k followers one of these days! #goals

3. Grow Your Instagram Followers Organically

So you’ve started getting new Instagram followers (yay!). But unfortunately, the above strategy isn’t sustainable forever since there’s a limit of how many people you can follow on Instagram.

Then how do you continue to grow your Instagram followers organically you ask? There are 10 things you can do to attract new Instagram followers. Here’s a quick breakdown of the top 5:

1. Be Consistent – This is probably the #1 thing you can do to grow your Instagram followers organically. It helps to set a goal for yourself and stick with it.

2. Be Intentional With Your Posts – Don’t post random photos. You need to post quality photos that are aesthetically pleasing to your audience and in line with your brand.

3. Post Engaging Content – Engagement is key for growing Instagram followers organically. You need to get your audience to engage with you by participating with your posts.

4. Actively Participate & Interact – Instagram wants people using the platform and rewards those who do so. So you need to show up on Instagram.

5. Give Your Audience What They Want – Pay attention to your posts’ engagement and make note of the posts that do better than others. Then post more of that content!

Using the complete Instagram growth strategy will help you increase your followers naturally!

4. Connect With Your Instagram Followers

This right here is the best Instagram strategy for bloggers! You need to create a connection with your followers if you want to put them to work for your blog.

And Instagram is a fabulous way to connect with your followers! By taking the time to connect with your audience, you’ll convert your Instagram followers into blog traffic and email subscribers as well.

So what’s the best way to use Instagram to connect with your followers? By sending your new followers a Direct Message (DM) using the Saved Replies feature!

Saved Replies are easy to set up when you have an Instagram for Business account. And they’re a major time-saver. Plus, you can include links to send folks to your blog and freebies!

5. Promote Your Blog on Instagram

Now that you’ve got Instagram followers and are working on growing your Instagram account organically, why not take it a step further? You should also be promoting your blog on Instagram!

This is a key step in the Instagram strategy for bloggers. But what’s the point of posting about your blog if you’re not actually driving your Instagram audience to your blog?

You need to direct your Instagram audience to click on the link in your bio. And then use your bio link to send your audience to a landing page on your blog

There are several ways you can promote your blog and blog posts on Instagram (for free, I might add!), including:

  • Your Bio Link
  • Post Captions
  • Saved Replies
  • Stories
  • Posts + Stories

Other than using Saved Replies, they pretty much all point to that crucial link in your bio. But you have to be sure to always use a Call-to-Action (CTA) instructing your audience to click on your “link in bio.”
