When I started converting to clean living, I was determined to swap out all the toxic items in my home. And cleaning products were my # 1️⃣ priority.

Have you ever read the warning labels on your household cleaners? Scary, right?!

Research shows that regular exposure to conventional cleaning products can have the same negative effect on lung function as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. 😱

Here are just a few of the toxic ingredients that can be in your household cleaners:

❌ 𝗖𝗵𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 - fumes from bleach can cause DNA damage, cancer, asthma, and a variety of other illnesses

I finally got to cross Strawberry Park Hot Springs off my bucket list! Ever since we settled down in Colorado over 7 years ago, I’ve been wanting to go.

We were determined to make it there this winter (the best time for hot springs IMO). So we took a day trip and drove 3 hours each way for a soak at these famous Colorado hot springs. #worthit

Strawberry Park made it on my list of Colorado’s Top 3 (Commercial) Hot Springs. For the other Top 2, check out my post about them a few Reels back! 😉

1️⃣ 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲
Processed and fast foods are packed with sugar, inflammatory oils, and artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives all linked to a host of health problems. By cooking from scratch at home, you’ll significantly reduce your exposure to toxins. Try to go organic too when possible, at least for the EWG’s Dirty Dozen.

2️⃣ 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿
Add a pinch of Celtic sea salt to your H2O to boost hydration and add trace minerals. Also, be sure to drink purified water. Check the EWG Tap Water Database to see what scary contaminants are in your drinking water (you’ll probably be shocked). Then get a non-plastic water filter like Berkey (5% off at link in bio). #ad

3️⃣ 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲
Try to go for a quick walk, jog, hike, or bike ride outdoors each day. Beyond the many benefits of physical exercise, being active outside has a bonus - vitamin D from sunshine! 42% of the U.S. population has a vitamin D deficiency, which has been linked to cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancers, autoimmune diseases, and more. Get outside for your daily dose of vitamin D!

4️⃣ 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰
In addition to plastic being horrible for the environment, it’s also toxic for our health. The main concern with plastics is exposure to BPA, a carcinogen, xenoestrogen, and endocrine disruptor. But even BPA-free plastics can leach plastic additives and hormone disrupting chemicals. Swap plastics out with stainless steel, glass, silicone, or bamboo.

5️⃣ 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲
Artificial fragrances are cocktails of toxic chemicals including endocrine disrupting phthalates and carcinogens like formaldehyde. The main culprits are perfume, cosmetics, personal care products, laundry products, cleaning products, candles, air fresheners, and more. Go fragrance-free to make a huge impact on your health!

My weight loss without any fad diets or crazy workouts! How did I do it?

𝟭 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 #𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴!

I started my clean living journey on 1/1/22 and began seeing weight loss after just 3 months. Then 6 months later, my pants were loose. Now 1 year later, I am LOVING my body!

The small changes I made added up to a big payoff! I feel amazing, have way more energy and stamina, am much more toned, and feel so much stronger!

All my weight loss was from tossing the toxins in my home, switching to natural products, and eating a clean, organic diet.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜’𝗩𝗘 𝗗𝗢𝗡𝗘

▹ Eat organic foods (~97%, we still eat out occasionally)
▹ Focus on fresh produce and limit processed foods, carbs + sugar
▹ Work on gut health with probiotics (kombucha, yogurt + supplements - see the probiotics I take in my Amazon Finds at the link in bio)
▹ Switch to non-toxic household products like @caraway_home cookware + @branchbasics cleaners
▹ Dry brush my body + face a few times a week with @primallypure dry brushes (increases circulation + lymphatic drainage to detox + melt cellulite)

If you’ve been trying to lose weight and aren’t seeing results, toxic endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) could be the culprit.

2021 was the worst year of our lives with 2 pregna

2021 was the worst year of our lives with 2 pregnancy losses. So for 2022, we focused on our wellbeing - physical, mental, and emotional. It was a far better year!

We started our clean living journey on January 1st of this year, swapped out toxic items for non-toxic alternatives, started eating organic, ended up losing weight, and have felt so much better!

As for our adventures, we took a road trip to Florida and several RV trips in Colorado. We also had our first tent camping experience ever and went tent camping again with family in Utah.

And let’s not forget about hiking! We didn’t manage to do as many hikes as we wanted for the year. But some of the ones we did were epic! And we hiked nearly 70 miles in 2022 (68.8 miles to be exact).

Overall, it was a great year. I’m so grateful to be doing life with my best friend / hubby and can’t wait to see what 2023 brings for us. We have some big plans for the new year!

Nature is the best therapy! And Colorado is such an amazing place to experience nature.

We left California in 2014 and ventured out in an RV traveling the country for over a year in search of the next place we wanted to call “home.”

With the never-ending mountains, diverse landscape, and mild four-season weather, Colorado was an easy choice for our home base.

We settled down in this great state in 2015 and have loved it ever since! Colorado has fueled our passion for the outdoors and given us incredible adventures.

Any time we’re feeling burdened by work or #adulting, we get outside into nature and instantly feel the tension and stress dissipate.

Nothing some fresh air and scenery can’t solve. No therapy needed other than time out in nature.

Well, Thanksgiving was a bust this year. 😞 And

Well, Thanksgiving was a bust this year. 😞 And today hasn’t been any better.

After hiking roughly 20 miles in a week, then playing basketball, my husband’s back decided to go out on him 1.5 days before Thanksgiving. He’s been in bed out of commission ever since.

So it was on me to do all the Thanksgiving prep. I was up for the challenge and had my game plan ready. Then... I realized the turkey was still frozen (after thawing it an extra day beyond the recommended time). 🤦‍♀️

We were originally going to go for a hike today to #optoutside. We knew which hike we were going to do and had it all planned out. But since my hubby is bedridden and can’t move, our hike obviously didn’t happen. And so you get this post instead from our latest hike in @rockynps. 😜

Because rather than getting to spend the day outdoors, I’ve been making a belated Thanksgiving meal for the 2 of us. At least we get to spend the day together (sorta... he’s been up in bed while I’ve been downstairs cooking all day). 😑

As I always say, you can only plan so much before life takes over with its own plans. You’ve gotta make the most of it and focus on the positive. I hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving and got to #optoutside today!
