This is the actual route we traveled on our road trip! Feel free to click on the map to enlarge it and get a better look.ย Also, see below for the destinations corresponding with the numbers on the map.ย We accomplished our goal of seeing every one of the 48 contiguous states of the United States!
I was sure we would deviate from the original route at times as we discovered new places and ventured out.ย Sure enough, the plan changed several times.ย There are quite a few more stops on our final route than on the original plan (60 more to be exact!).ย That’s because there’s so much to see in the U.S.! Even with 123 destinations, we still didn’t see it all, but at least we were able to see what we did.ย Plus, there’s always next time! ๐

Have you been to any of the above places? If so, what was your favorite, and what did you love about it? What places are on your bucket list to visit? Did we miss any places you think are worth visiting?
I am a friend of Frank and Jody. Just got back to Ca after taking a road trip for one year. I stayed in many places for two weeks to a month so did not cover as much ground as you. Next time make sure you see more of Michigan. The west side is awesome and a must is Macknaw Island. Also Amelia Island is something to be seen off the coast of Georgia. The west coast of Fl, Venice, Ft Myers, Naples has pretty much a laid back beach town feel. Destin Fl has the best sand. Ky is cave country. I would of loved to have met you along the way. Sounds like you enjoyed yourself I have to agree I am still a So Cal girl. Happy Trails, Dianne
Hi Dianne! Nice to meet you! Any friend of Frank & Jody’s is a friend of ours. ๐ Thanks for the suggestions! We wish we would have spent more time in many of the places we visited, but we’re glad we were able to see as much as we did. There’s always next time! Maybe we can meet up with you and Frank & Jody when we go back out!
We were riding our bikes in Capital Reef and we ran into the two of you in a parking lot. It was an area where one could drive deeper into the rocks and slot canyons. We asked if you could take our photo and we held our bikes over our heads. Then, while lifting our bikes, you had to ask us for our camera. (I forgot the important part of picture taking.) The four of us got a laugh out of that one. We also took a picture of the two of you. You gave us your card and told us to check in on your blog to see what you would later be “up to”. So . . . where did you settle? I have not read through the whole blog. I just discovered your card today. Sept 26, 2016. Julianne and Shelley Drogin
Hi Julianne & Shelley! It’s good to hear from you! We totally remember you! Having to ask for your camera after you had already lifted your bikes up over your heads…Haha…that was classic! ๐ Sorry for taking so long to reply. Just now saw your comment. We actually ended up in Denver, CO. We’ve been here for a little over a year now and love it! Here’s a link to the big announcement blog post: Where We Decided to Live!!!. How have you two been? Any more adventures? Where do you live again?
